Pinelands Lodge
Pinelands Lodge
This February, we want to highlight one of Muskoka’s Grand Hotels in our Online Exhibit. Pinelands Lodge was demolished in 2007.
Bel-Pines Brochure
Pinelands Lodge was originally two different resorts. Pinelands House was founded in 1906 and Belmont House in 1902. Both properties were purchased by Clarence and Bert Jones in 1941. After this point, it had several different names, including Bel-Pines Lodges! This brochure is from the 1940s – 1950s.
Mmm… Maple Syrup!
This label is from a bottle of maple syrup that was manufactured by Pinelands Hotel, before it was combined into one resort with Belmont House. Just another perk of staying at the Pinelands!
The Foresters
Bert Jones, one of the two brothers who purchased the Pinelands and Belmont House, belonged to a Friendly Society known as the Ancient Order of Foresters, which had its origins in England. The different Divisions were known as ‘courts’. Mr. Jones belonged to Court Number 1735 of the Dominion of Canada.
Checking In
Before digital management programs, hotels like the Pinelands had to keep guest books for guests to check in and out of their rooms. This book was started before the Pinelands Resort was combined with Belmont House, and was used from the 1910s – 1960s.
Often, women were checked in under their husband’s name, such as Mr. and Mrs. E. Hadley who visited on July 31, 1914.
