The Muskoka Lakes Museum provides research services by appointment, drawing from 6,000+ artifacts and archival materials, with initial complimentary research and fees that directly support preservation and collection care.
Research Services
The Muskoka Lakes Museum is home to over 6,000 artifacts and archival materials, along with an impressive reference library that supports in-depth research into the history of the region.
Research requests include up to 30 minutes of complimentary research, allowing our team to determine whether relevant information exists within our archives. Additional research time and copies of archival materials are subject to fees (see schedule).
Researchers wishing to visit in person to access the Museum’s archives or collections may do so by appointment only, with a minimum one-hour research fee applied.
All funds collected through research services are reinvested into the Museum’s collection, supporting preservation, digitization, and future upgrades to the research library.
